The United Reformed Church is backing calls on UK government chiefs to reduce the country's carbon emissions, the Charities Aid Foundation reported on 2 December.

The United Reformed Church (URC) has joined forces with other religious organisations to lobby the government after a report on climate change warned the UK must cut harmful emissions by at least 34 per cent by 2020.

The Baptist Union of Great Britain and the Methodist Church are also supporting the report which has been issued by the Committee on Climate Change.

They want to see government funding made available to provide better insulation and energy-saving measures for public housing.
