Good news is truly good news when it is good news for everybody says Sudarshan Thomas Joy.
Read Luke 2.8-20
This is the story of the shepherds receiving the good news that Jesus is born. The angel said to the shepherds, "Don't be afraid! I am here with good news for you, which will bring great joy to all people". The shepherds were afraid because they had not seen angels before. The unseen and unknown also bring fear.
Today, in our world, people are living in fear and insecurity due to wars, terrorism and violent actions. Many young people turn to drugs, alcohol and immoral behaviour. They get involved in crimes. They are yet to know about Jesus' love.
Any good news is good news only when it brings great joy to all people not just for those who receive it. The shepherds heard the good news and rushed immediately to see. They saw, they experienced it and then took the good news all the way back home.
We who have experienced the good news of Jesus should ensure that we take it to all those who still have not heard it. They may be people in our home, in our neighbourhood or far away. When we take the good news, we are the angels.
Prayer:
God, help me to be your child and set an example for others. Help me to be a little angel bringing your good news of great joy to people near and far. Amen.
